  • Board of Selectmen Members present:
    • Mark Dindorf
    • Bob White

  • Also present:
    • Marian Varney, Town Clerk

  • Meeting convened at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2006
  1. Note on business since the last selectmen meeting: Ongoing problems with the town dumpster on Burke Rd filling to overflow prompted some communication between board members Mark & Bob (Marvin was away in warm Florida). After contacting North Conway Incinerator, it was discovered the town now has the largest dumpster available, so Mark & Bob decided to have North Conway Incinerator start picking up the dumpster weekly instead of the bi-weekly schedule we have been using.
  2. Sorted town mail and took care of appropiate pieces:
    • Received request for tax abatement from Thomas Hornstein, Tax Abatement form was mailed to property owner.
    • Received request form from Dept. of Environmental Services for information from towns without Solid Waste Facilities, form was filled out and returned.
    • Received a proposal/contract from Brett Purvis & Associates (formerly the assessing service called NybergPurvis?) for assessing services in the new year. We will look at the contract and contact Jo Belville from the NH Dept of Revenue and regards to utilizing partial assessments each year, or to stay on the current every 5 year assessments.
    • Received request for tax abatement from Frederick Goddard, Tax Abatement form was mailed to property ownder.
    • Bob had received an email from Beverly Sullivan also requesting an abatement form, she was directed to the State of NH website for the form, but we will also mail her an abatement form.
    • Received invoice for $107.26 for membership in the North Country Council, a group that has been very helpful to the town. Invoice forward to Beth for payment.
    • Other mail (mostly junk mail) was reviewed and discarded where appropriate.
  3. A packet was received from the State of NH, containing the annual MS-5 forms, which Mark will fill out when the rest of the needed information is available.
  4. Board acknowledged form from Town Clerk Marion Varney that tax bills have in deed been issued and sent to property owners.
  5. Board will start to look into some possible opportunities to start some type of recycling in town, not only would this be the reponsible thing to do for our beautiful corner of the planet, it would help the overall health of the planet and also maybe alleviate some of the problems we are having with an overflowing dumpster. We will seek information from thew North Country Council and another group we received some info on, called NorthEast Resource Recovery Association Co-op.

  6. Meeting adjourned at 5:05pm.
