  • Board of Selectmen Members present:
    • Mark Dindorf

    • Bob White

  • Also present:
    • Marian Varney, Town Clerk
    • Josephine Belville, NH DRA Real Estate Appraiser

  • Meeting convened at 4:05 pm, Monday, October 24, 2005
  1. Board sat down with Joesphine Belville from the NH Dept. of Revenue Administration to discuss the progress on the town-wide revaluation process. Josephine informed us that the sampling audit of Nyberg Purvis & Associates has shown all audited properties were within acceptable standards to the accuracy of the properties.
Letters are being mailed by Nyberg Purvis & Associates to all town property owners as of today. Property owners will have an opportunity to sit down with a representative of Nyberg Purvis on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the town hall to review with the appraisal company the value of their property. This hearing process with the appraisers is the best time for owners to have questions answered and properties adjusted before the revaluation numbers are finalized. It should be noted that property owners may still go through a rebatement process, but the rebatement process still requires payment of taxes and usually requires months to complete. Therefore, the board hopes property owners will take advantage of the Novemeber 5th hearing if they have valuation questions or concerns. The assessor will sit down with owners and explain step by step how value was established on the owner's property. The Town Hall will be open Nov 5, 2005, 9am to 3pm or until the last person has been taken care of.
Josephine answered other questions the board had regarding upcoming administrative steps before she departed.
  2. Mark will take care of the State MS-1 and MS-4 forms, which we were waiting for the revaluation numbers to complete the forms. (We had obtained two extensions form the state pending the revaluation figures).
  3. Mark will also look into getting updated software from Cartographic Associates for the updated town maps.
  4. Rick Richardson, Staff Assistant to Congressman Jeb Bradley, will be at Marion Varney's residence on November 1, 2005 from 10-10:30am for comments, concerns or help with anyone needing assistance on a federal matter.
  5. Sorted town mail and took care of appropiate pieces.
    • Received and filed hard copy of Septic Design Approval (# CA 2005075467) for Calvin Hunsicker, for 4 additional bedrooms (total of 8 bedrooms)
    • Received and filed hard copy of Septic Operation Approval (# CA 2004062052) for Marvin Powell, Crawford Notch Campground.
    • Received confirmation of Railroad Use Tax from NH Bureau of Railroads for $3,380.00, the amount has been deposited in the town bank account.
    • Received a reply from the NH DOT Bureau of Railroads expressing support for the removal of railroad ties along Route 302 by the Conway Scenic Railroad. Letter was filed, and it was noted at the meeting, that Conway Scenic Railroad has indeed started to prepare the piles railroad ties for removal from Hart's Location.

  6. Meeting adjourned at 5:30pm.
